Fur detail continues

Sometimes it feels like progress is really slow however, it is looking really good. It is a half spotted snow leopard! 😉 I’m really happy to see both eyes filled in and how good he is looking so far.

The base coats for the eyes are in! Just need to add more shadows and light to the piece. Should be interesting to see how this feral cat turns out.

Bases all filled in

The base coats are all filled in now. Just need to get the detail work going on the right side and then do the spots. It is looking very good so far!

Pallas Cat

The Pallas cat is a small wild cat from central Asia. They have an unusual look with a squarish head, and have a thick coat because they live in a cold climate. Unfortunately their species is considered threatened. This painting was done in India ink on a mat board. It measures approximately 11” x 14”.

Almost filled in

I’ve filled in all the base coats besides the other eye now. This snow leopard is looking great! It is interested to see it at this stage where you can see the step process as you go across the piece. You can see me work on this piece live on Sept. 11 @utahstatefair in the fine art building. I look forward to seeing some of you!

Eraser-napped

I thought my eraser was lost but turns out it was just eraser-napped by my kitty Moon. Luckily it is still intact even with the teeth marks.

Shadows forming

Finally some formation to make him look less like a blob. I started putting in the shadows and getting formation of stripes started. He is starting to look much better, though he sure has a lot of hair. Such a fluffy cat! #wildlifeartist #wildlifeart #fluffycat
