I have decided to create my own kinds of enfield creatures.  My enfield creatures are foxes with wings rather than the traditional version which can have three combinations of animals.  I decided to create one combining an arctic fox with a snowy owl.  The result was this rather challenging painting.  Painted in washes of ink, this piece was tricky to keep the snow white color and the added shadows to give a mythical appearance.  This painting measures 9” x 12” painted on mat board. Here is “Lion of the West” the finished painting as promised. I had some frustrating moments while doing this painting but I think it turned out in the end. My cougar painting is complete and finished. Here is a close up of the piece. Later this week i’ll post a photo of the entire painting. I think it turned out really well. There were some really difficult things about this painting. I had to figure out a way to get the moss on the rock to look right. In the end I used a certain sponge that made the textured look. He turned out really well in my opinion.

I got a new pastel box to organize my many pastels. It will be really nice compared to the breaking cardboard/paper boxes. Funny though, I though I had more pastels then this?

Nearing completion here is an update on the snowy enfield. It was a very difficult piece to get all the washes of ink just right but was definitely worth it. I love how the light shines off the piece so I took the photo from this angle so you can see the reflecting light. He looks so beautiful like this! Just a few more touch ups and this piece will be complete!
