This pastel piece depicts a male Amur Tiger getting a drink of water. My aim was to capture a moment of peace in this powerful feline’s life.  Water, the source of life reflects the image of the tiger with the ripples distorting its reflection. This symbolizes how the future of this species is distorted and uncertain.  The Amur tiger is an endangered species that has every right to live its life.  This piece is meant to capture the essence of that life.  I wanted to capture life itself with all these different sources in nature.  The sun, plants, and water with the reflection are meant to show this.  It measures approximately 15” x 16”.
